When it comes to Christmas tree decorations, one often underutilized yet incredibly versatile element is ribbon. This season, discover how ribbon can transform your tree, not just as an accent but as the star of the show.
From cascading down the body of the tree to replacing the traditional star topper, ribbon offers a unique and enchanting way to elevate your holiday decor.
Ribbon as the Main Attraction
Gone are the days of simply draping ribbon as an afterthought; this year, let the ribbon take center stage. Weave it in a spiraling pattern down the body of the tree, intertwining with the branches to create a visually captivating effect. Choose ribbons in various textures and widths, allowing them to create a mesmerizing and textured backdrop against which your ornaments will truly shine.

Using Ribbon as a Topper
Who says the top of the tree must be adorned with a traditional star or angel? Stand out this season by fashioning an exquisite bow or ribbon arrangement to crown your tree. I got this pre-made ribbon bow from the dollar store, fluffed it up so it looked nice and new and added a twist tie to the bag. It is a great alternative to using an angel or star, and much cheaper!
The Key to Making Ribbon Look Good
The key to make your ribbon look good is first choosing a ribbon that is wired. This will give you the ability to form twists, curls and bows that look smooth and full.
Another great idea is to choose several ribbons that coordinate and mix using them all within your tree decor. Below, you will see I used a wide wired burlap ribbon that I twisted (vertical twist), along with a coordinating wired ribbon with the message "Happy Holidays" greeting on it.
To top it all off, I added silver-toned ribbon bow instead of a star. This brought my brown and grey theme together nicely, to set off the silver hanging ornaments, beads, and sparkly lights.

Conclusion
This holiday season, reimagine your Christmas tree decor with the use of ribbon. A few rolls of good quality accent ribbon can go a long way! It can really elevate your Christmas Tree decor, and can be an inexpensive alternative to some more expensive decorations.
