Hunter boots are more than just footwear; they're a stylish addition to your wardrobe that can be worn in any season. To keep them looking as good as new, follow these easy steps on how to clean, condition, and protect your Hunter boots.
Hunter boots are a beautiful statement piece to add to your wardrobe. They are a versatile footwear that you can wear with almost any outfit and any season. I've worn them in the winter through the wet melting snow and was totally fine going shopping when I wore them for short periods of time outdoors.

How to Clean Hunter Boots:
What Does Hunter Boots Recommend?
Hunter Boots recommends cleaning with a mild soap or detergent along with water.
Clean after each use to prevent dirt or mud from drying out the rubber. Start with water to wash off any dirt or mud, reserving soap for exceptionally dirty situations.
Conditioning Your Rubber Boots:
Hunter Boots emphasizes that conditioning the rubber is crucial for longevity. Consider using a rubber conditioner monthly, especially after engaging in activities that put your boots through a tough job.
They recommend 303 Rubber Seal Protectant and Conditioner. Apply it liberally with a cloth, wipe off excess, and let them dry overnight.
How to Prevent Cracking:
To maintain a flawless appearance, Hunter recommends applying a small amount of olive oil to clean boots. This not only hydrates the rubber but also provides a nice shine. The olive oil trick allows the oil to soak into the rubber, keeping it soft and preventing cracks.
How to know if your rubber is drying out?
Keep an eye out for signs of flaking rubber or cracks, indicating the onset of dry rot. Hunter assures that their boots can last decades with proper care, including storing them away from sunlight, cleaning after each use, and regular rubber conditioning. They say their boots can last decades if stored and cared for properly.
How to prevent dry rotting:
For added protection, Hunter suggests applying wax occasionally to the surface. Additionally, before heading outside, apply a bit of Vaseline to your boots. This protective layer shields them from UV light and prevents dry rotting.
Seriously, I’m not making this stuff up! They make these recommendations on their website. Go check it out for yourself on “How to Care for Your Boots” directly from their website.
By following these simple steps recommended cleaning by Hunter Boots, you can ensure that your stylish footwear stays in top-notch condition for years to come. With regular cleaning, conditioning, and a few preventative measures, you'll be stepping out in your Hunter boots with confidence, no matter the season. Take the time to care for your boots properly, and they'll reward you with both durability and style.
Clean and Condition Your Hunter Boots
Step 1
Rinse off any dirt with water. If your boots are very soiled, use a little bit of dish soap on a cloth and wipe clean. Wipe with a towel to dry.

Step 2
Apply about a tablespoon of olive oil to a cloth and wipe all over your boots. Work in sections to ensure you don't miss any spots. I made sure to get in all seams and cracks that have formed.

Step 3
Wipe away excess oil with an absorbent towel or cloth. I used toilet paper. The toilet paper leaves behind fluff and bits, but that will all come off in the next step.

Step 4
Lightly wipe and buff with a towel. I used a cotton hand towel.

Step 5
Enjoy your beautiful, cleaned, and conditioned boots 🙂 I only did one at at time so I could take photos for you, but you should do both at the same time. Here is what they look like in a side-by-side comparison, with one still dirty and the second completed.
