A simple homemade chili onion crunch made with olive oil, dried onion, garlic, and chili flakes. Spicy, savory, and crunchy, it's an easy way to add flavor to eggs, pizza, noodles, vegetables, and more.
Bring to a simmer over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally to combine.
Once the mixture starts to bubble, turn off the burner and leave the pan in place to cool.
Let cool in the pan for approximately 30 minutes to 1 hour, or until cooled to room temperature.
Once cooled, transfer to a clean glass jar with a lid.
Store in the refrigerator and use within 1 week. Stir well before each use.
Notes
Storage: Because this recipe contains dried garlic and onion in oil, refrigerate rather than store at room temperature. Store in a clean, airtight glass jar and use within 1 week. Always use a clean utensil when serving and return the jar to the refrigerator after use.Stir before serving: The salt and sugar do not dissolve in the oil and will settle to the bottom. Stir the chili onion crunch well before each use to evenly distribute the ingredients.
