Homemade Apple Sauce

With a hint of cinnamon and brown sugar, you'll love this recipe to use up leftover apples. Great as a snack, breakfast or dessert.

Ingredients

peeled and diced apples

water

ground cinnamon

brown sugar

Instructions
Peel, core, and dice apples into chunks.
In a saucepan over high heat, bring the apples and water to boil, then reduce heat and allow to simmer.
Simmer for 10 minutes, stirring and mashing occasionally. If you notice the water is boiling off, you can add a bit more so it doesn't burn.
Once apple is softened, add ground cinnamon and brown sugar to the mix.
Use a potato masher or an immersion blender to achieve your preferred texture. I don't mind mine a little chunky.
Serve warm or refrigerate and serve cold.
Notes
Add a splash of vanilla extract for a comforting warmth.
Add a squeeze of lemon juice to brighten the flavors.
