Instructions
Using a small sharp knife, carefully cut each date lengthwise and remove the pit and stem end.
Gently open each date and add approximately ½ teaspoon of butter. Add a little more if you'd like.
Sprinkle each date with a small pinch of Maldon flaky sea salt and a light dusting of cinnamon.
Enjoy immediately as an easy after-dinner dessert.
Notes
Medjool dates are preferred because they are large, soft, and naturally caramel-like, but Khidri dates or another gooey work beautifully too.
Homemade butter is especially delicious in this recipe. The flavour really shines with such a simple ingredient list.
The cinnamon is optional, but highly recommended. It gives these dates an almost cinnamon-bun-like flavour.
Maldon flaky sea salt is ideal, but any good-quality flaky sea salt can be used.
